Who do you recommend and hire for an unusual home improvement project, like Raising the Floor in a Sunken Living Room?
Is this a job for a flooring company? Or a carpentry crew? Do I need an electrician to raise the outlets to the standard height so they won't be 6 inches off the floor after the project is complete? Our experienced and diverse team of multi-disciplinary craftsmen is the perfect choice for unusual projects. When it's too hard for everyone else, it's just right for us!
This client asked us to make her home easier for her guests to navigate this holiday season. We accomplished this by framing up a sleeper floor in the sunken space, adding subfloor, installing new hardwood, and then refinishing the entire first-floor hardwood to blend everything. Here are some photos.
As mobility becomes more and more important, the nature of the room has lost its appeal and functionality, and it's time to bring it up to level with the rest of the main floor of the home.
German did a great job raising the electrical outlets to the proper height for the new floor, installing the sleeper joist, and ensuring that the subfloor would line up correctly with the existing flooring.
Once he had the floor framed, his team installed the 3/4 subfloor. All connections are glued and nailed, and we added a couple of deck screws as a backup to help reduce the likelihood of future squeaks.
Once the subfloor was complete, it was time for our flooring crew to lay the new hardwood and begin sanding the floors in the rest of the first floor in preparation for refinishing everything to match.
