Formal Quote or Agreement

After your on-site visit, we'll provide a formal proposal detailing the full scope of work and materials. Read it carefully. Our goal is that by the time you finish, you fully understand the project schedule, what to expect on arrival day, payment terms, and your responsibilities as a homeowner — all the things that make for a smooth, enjoyable renovation experience.

If anything seems unclear, missing, or different from what you expected — call us. We'd rather answer ten questions upfront than have a misunderstanding mid-project. We promise you won't hurt our feelings.

Things to Consider BEFORE you Sign

Before signing with anyone, protect yourself by verifying these four things:

1. Registration — Ask for their PA Home Improvement Contractor Registration Number. It's required by law to appear on all advertising, vehicles, and contracts. Verify it at hicsearch.attorneygeneral.gov. COPE's number is PA088078.

2. Insurance — Request a Certificate of Insurance covering general liability and workers' compensation, then call the agent to confirm it's active. An uninsured contractor puts you and your homeowners policy at serious financial risk — and violates Pennsylvania law, carrying fines up to $25,000.

3. A Proper Contract — Pennsylvania's Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act 132 sets specific legal requirements for contractor agreements. Any contractor asking for more than a ⅓ deposit upfront (outside of special-order materials) is likely in violation of the law.

4. Reviews & References — Ask for verifiable, clickable, local reviews. COPE has over 220 five-star reviews on Facebook and Google from your friends and neighbors.

If a contractor can't provide all four, keep shopping. Price alone is never enough.

Signing the Contract

Once you've reviewed everything and you're confident — it's time to sign the contract and submit your ⅓ deposit. That's what gets materials ordered and your project officially on the schedule.
